Next year marks the tenth anniversary of Mamma Mia, the 2008 musical adaptation which brought ABBA’s greatest hits to life on the big screen.

And to celebrate, Universal is planning a sequel. Even better, original cast members Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, are expected to return for Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the storyline will be set in the present while new actors will play younger versions of Streep, Firth and Brosnan in flashback scenes.

The first of these new additions to the cast is Lily James, who will play Young Donna, (aka a younger version of Meryl Streep's character) in Here We Go Again!

Deadline suggests that the film will go back and forth in time with a series of flashbacks, showing 'how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present.'

As well as her breakout role in Downton Abbey, a part in the BBC's epic War and Peace adaptation and this summer's turn in Baby Driver, Lily is best known for the live-action version of Disney's Cinderella.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is due to be released on July 20, 2018 and the original stage musical's co-creator, Judy Craymer, is set to return for the sequel. ABBA members, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will provide music and lyrics for the production and will also work as executive producers on the film.

All we can say is, thank you for the music.
