Louis Tomlinson really didn’t know that his life was about to turn upside down when he agreed to take One Direction off of the X-Factor and into real life. Now, almost seven years later, he has admitted that he struggles with the fame and it’s something no one can really wrap their head around. Because Louis is one of the biggest stars in the world, it kind of shocks you to think that he still hasn’t come to terms with it all. With his solo stardom beginning to climb and a life with the boy band fading into the distance, Louis opens up about his life and the glamour everyone thinks they want.

The “Back To You” singer chatted with Beats 1 Radio YouTube channel about his celebrity status. He said, “It’s hard for anyone to get your head around. It was important to me to write a song that could humanize me as much as possible and that the fans can really feel I’m just like them. Honest and vulnerable and real.”

Louis is referring to a new song, “Just Like You,” from his upcoming album. The lyrics paint a picture of who he really is and how he isn’t much different than his fans. Maybe his problems are different, maybe they are bigger, maybe he spends thousands of dollars on a night out but that doesn’t make him any bigger or better of a human than all of us. The message is super important and pretty freaking awesome that Louis decided to write something like this.

Let’s take a look at a few of the lyrics. “It’s the guy from the one band / Cigarette in my left hand
Whole world in my right hand / Twenty-five and it’s all planned / Night out and it’s ten grand / Headlines that I can’t stand.”

Even here we get to see what his life has become. It’s almost as if he’s saying just because he has it all doesn’t mean he doesn’t have issues. The phrase, “Headlines that I can’t stand,” is very powerful giving the notion that everything written about him isn’t always positive, true or even remotely anything he likes.

The chorus reads, “I’m just like you / Even though my problems look nothing like yours do
Yeah I get sad too / And when I’m down I need somebody to talk to / Yeah, I feel the same way as you would do too / Same stress, same sh-t to go through / I’m just like you / If you only knew.” This really hits you right in the core. If you ever think Louis is nothing like you, then think again. Maybe listen to this song. He’s trying to come back to Earth a little bit saying he shouldn’t be held on this pedestal because he’s just like us.
