It seems like Miley Cyrus has changed her look, her attitude, and her ideas about what is important in life several times since being in the spotlight. But the singer is trying to reassure fans that the whole idea of her morphing into different personas is a common misconception. She has stayed true to herself all along. After going through these different phases, Miley revealed that she finally feels respected as an artist.
While we all remember the entertainment that came with Miley's twerking days, it was a far cry from the squeaky-clean image she had while acting on Disney Channel's hit show, Hannah Montana. However, in the crazy scheme of things, it seems like she's reverting back to her Hannah Montana days. Things have become less complicated, less loud, and more clean-cut in the past couple of months.
Miley is wearing more clothes during her performances now than she has since her days on Disney. But this was all part of her plan.
In a new interview with ITV program Lorraine's, she told host Ross King, "I feel like I proved what I wanted to do. I feel like I have respect and I feel like my charity Happy Hippie has given me that and I feel like I have the respect as an artist that I want, so it's less that I have to prove myself, and that gives me a lot of contentment."
The "Malibu" singer said she's always been "open" with her fans and because of that, she said, "I think that makes me have more freedom in my music, because I feel like I can really just be myself and my fans are so accepting of me. But it's just hard for people that are looking out from the outside inside my life all the time and going through every little thing."
During the days of Hannah Montana, Miley was growing up. She was a respected Disney Channel star, but she was just a child. It was her twerking phase, her days of eccentricity, and the days of dating whoever she wanted that have led her to evolve into the person fans see today. She's in a committed relationship with Liam Hemsworth, her music is carefree and reserved, and she is focusing on charity.
As much as Miley claims she has totally separated herself from Hannah Montana, it was that foundation that has helped her gain the respect she now feels like she has.
