Niall Horan may have put Australian One Direction fans in an uproar when he made comments about a stadium on their tour, but Directioners are rushing to his defense now that comedian Chris O'Dowd dissed him! The actor basically called the singer less popular than his bandmate Harry Styles.

Chris was comparing his experience of performing in Of Mice and Men to performing in 1D, saying that all the teenage girls were there to see James Franco and not him.
"I felt like the Irish kid in One Direction — Niall — like, knowing they're all going to see Harry Styles," he said. "I knew they were all there to see Franco. They just had to push their way past the weird Irish guy with the big beard."
When he was performing in the play, he even posted a photo showing a bunch of girls ignoring him while trying to get a selfie with his costar.
Most girls at the stage door of #MiceAndMen may well clamber for a @JamesFrancoTV selfie. But my ladies are vintage. pic.twitter.com/t4HlpFCDbu— chris o'dowd (@BigBoyler) May 19, 2014

While he probably only name-checked Nialler because they're both Irish, we can understand why fans are upset. Hazza isn't the only guy in the group! When people go to see the band, they go to see all of them. We love Harry as much as anyone, but they're an entire band, after all.
Do you think that Niall deserved to be dissed like that? Was it just a harmless joke? Tell us what you think in the comments!
