If there’s one thing Niall Horan has changed our minds about it is the fact that living a celebrity life is not all it cracks up to be. The “Slow Hands” singer just kicked off his Flicker Sessions in his homeland of Ireland and couldn’t have been more nervous before he got on stage. This was the first time in his life that he would be touring alone. Well, you know, without Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson standing beside him. He’s still got a band to back him up, but besides that, he’s all on his own.

Big leaps, Nialler, big leaps. The heartthrob chatted with RTÉ News’s Sinead Crowley before his performance on Eoghan McDermott’s 2fm show. He said, “I still have to live abroad as the music industry takes me elsewhere at the minute, but I try and get home as much as I can. It’s not always easy, and I do miss it, but these are the sacrifices you have to make. I would love to live in Ireland but at the moment it’s just not feasible for me.”

Poor babe! Hey, Niall, for the heads up, we would still love you as much as we do now if you lived in Ireland – just saying. But, really though, this is kind of heartbreaking if you think about it. Ireland is definitely not close to the United States and it’s a jet lag away from Los Angeles. He’s leaving behind his family, his friends and the place he grew up to make music for all of us. What a freaking gem.

Thankfully, he was able to get back to Ireland to kick off his solo tour and the reaction from the crowd was everything Niall had hoped for. He said, “I think it went really well, the reaction to some of the songs that they hadn’t heard has been really good…[There’s] no better place to start than one of my favorite theatres I’ve ever set foot in. I’ve been to a lot of gigs in The Olympia over the years so it was nice to play there.”

Aww! Is anyone getting really sentimental vibes right now? Niall is legit everything, we cannot even deal. He has so much pride in where he comes from, it’s quite refreshing to see that hasn’t gone away in the past six years that he’s been in the spotlight. He just proved that he will always wave the Irish flag – even when he feels super awkward on stage. LOL.

He said, “During “Slow Hands,” I don’t have a guitar and I don’t really know what to do with my hands, so I just picked up the Irish flag that was on the floor beside me, I was a bit all over the place!” Our hearts.
