Rico Rodriguez stars in the new movie Endgame, and plays a character named Jose who has been playing chess since he was just 5-years-old. Now Jose is using his skills to take his chess team to the finals, all while learning the meaning of perseverance and learning how strong he can be.
Rico was incredible enough to chat with J-14 about his new film, and of course we had to ask what he hopes his fans take from Endgame when they watch!
"Seeing myself in a new way in this movie! It's a dramatic film, and people are used to seeing me as the wise-cracking Manny in 'Modern Family.' In this one you see me as a troubled teen who is going through life, and growing up."
We also asked if Rico has ever had to fight for someone to see his skills like his character has to!
"I've never had to physically fight someone to show my skills, my character does, but I use my words instead of my actions!"
Rico also opened up to us with some amazing advice for his fans, and how they can best follow their dreams in life.
"Just go for it! Don't take no for an answer! If you're passionate about it go at it 100% and keep going!"
Fans can see Rico's movie Endgame in select theaters this Friday! Let us know if you plan on seeing Rico's new role on the big screen this weekend!
