Sisters onscreen and off.
Modern Family stars Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter are not just super close by chance. The two actresses have been in one another’s lives for over eight years, mainly starring as the Dunphy sisters on the hit comedy show.
Even though they’ve had to put on a bond for the small screen, that doesn’t mean their relationship is just purely for the cameras and laughs. The two are low-key and private when it comes to showcasing their bond, so it makes Sarah opening up about all the different ways she’s helped Ariel throughout the years pretty surprising to hear.
The most major thing the Dirty Dancing star has helped her on-screen little sister with? Her confidence! Yes, Sarah totally takes some credit (along with her other Modern Family co-stars) for helping Ariel become the kind of person who doesn’t apologize for being herself.
The actress opened up to People about it by dishing, “I like to think we — me, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara — helped her be confident with her body and herself.”
“She was 11 years old when I met her. I was 18. I tried to be a good role model for her, and a true older sister for her because she’s such a sweet little girl,” she continued to say.
When it comes to finding the strength to be confident, the actress also revealed that it’s all about, “not letting people’s hateful words get to you. Just surround yourself with positivity and not let the negativity get to you.”
It’s safe to say that those words of wisdom have come in handy not just for Ariel, but for herself as well. Many may remember that not too long ago, Sarah had to publicly announce that she was secretly dealing with a medical condition, after fans on social media attacked her for losing quite a bit of weight.
Both Sarah and Ariel clearly have a level of confidence that’s out of this world, and a thick skin to match.
They know exactly how to brush all the haters off.
