Selena Gomez was granted a restraining order against a 46-year-old Thomas Brodnicki, a man who was threatening to kill her. Thomas, who has a history of mental illness and criminal activity for stalking, traveled from Chicago to L.A. to meet her, visited her workplace at least three times, and has told people he had conversations with God about killing Selena.

Selena said in a statement that she is in "extreme fear" and now Thomas is required to stay 100 yards (90 meters) away from Selena and her workplace until a November 4 hearing, when the order may be extended for three years.
