Oh no! It seems Shia LaBeouf is involved in a nasty legal battle between relatives.
The actor won a lawsuit against his uncle Barry Saide in February 2014, according to PageSixcom, after he gave his uncle over $800,000 in 2009 but has not yet been repaid. This debt has now turned into $1 million due to interest and attorneys fees.
The website claims that Shia now wants to be repaid the loan, or hand over the house that his uncle and aunt live in! Eeek!
The Transformer star’s aunt Sharon Saide, aged 60, has told the judge that she is listed on the apartment as the sole owner. And has also stated that she purchased the condo using the inheritance from her grandmother.
She has also accused the actor of intimidating her to give up her home which she says is worth $2.5 million. Yikes!
LaBeouf’s uncle Barry asked for a loan from his nephew after his agency hit a rough patch during the economic downturn several years ago, according to the website. Barry claims he didn't think he needed to pay back Shia, and thought he was just returning the favour after he supported him before he became a successful actor.
"Prior to Shia’s ascendancy to film stardom . . . I loaned Shayna hundreds of thousands of dollars to assist in the support of Shayna and Shia,” the uncle said in court papers.
