The topic of discussion that's been on every One Direction fan's lips is how long the group will be on hiatus. And Simon Cowell has an insider look at how long they're really planning on taking a break. He says they've been talking about "a year," but he's still not sure if this "the end or not."
"This hasn't been a secret for a long time. We've been discussing them taking a year off. It always feels like the end; I don't know if this is gonna be the end or not but like I've always done or tried to do with their career is to say 'your decision'," he told Sugarscape.

He says that three years from now, he hopes the guys are pursuing their personal projects, while also being a part of the band.
"Hopefully doing solo stuff but also staying in the group. That would be my wish, but whatever they do you have to respect them. They've worked hard for this, they deserve a break; they're gonna have a good time," Simon said.
"We have a great relationship with them, they're great boys and we're always gonna be supportive but never forcing to make people do something they don't want to do and you've got to give them some time off."
We agree! They've been overworked, and they're due for a break. It's only natural. But a year break? We can deal with that. (It'll be tough, but we'll survive.)
