How time files! The iconic Disney Channel Original Movie Stuck in the Suburbs premiered nearly 20 years ago. The iconic musical film first aired on the network in July 2004, and starred Danielle Panabaker, Brenda Song and Taran Killam, among others.

The DCOM followed the story of two best friends — Brittany Aarons (played by Danielle) and Natasha Kwon-Schwartz (played by Brenda) — who are obsessed with singer Jordan Cahill. After an accidental run-in with the singer and his team at a music video shoot, the heartthrob’s manager switches phones with Brittany. After the girls start to mess with his image, Jordan decides to step out of his comfort zone and embrace who he wants to be as an artist. Eventually, the girls switch phones back with Jordan and they all stay in touch.

Aside from the epic story, Stuck in the Suburbs introduced some pretty fire bops — like “More Than Me” and “On Top of the World” — and they still hold up today. Following the film’s premiere, some of the stars went on to have pretty successful careers in Hollywood. Taran, for one, was a staple member of the Saturday Night Live cast for years. He even looked back at his Disney Channel days during a September 2019 interview on The Late Late Show With James Corden

At the time, Taran was a guest on the talk show with fellow former Disney star Ashley Tisdale and the two recalled how they first met. “I obviously used to watch him all the time on SNL , and I would say to my husband, ‘I think I know him.’ I felt like I went to Six Flags with him,” the High School Musical star said. “And we have. It really did happen.”

Taran explained that they had gone to Six Flags Magic Mountain in California more than 16 years ago with their “mutual friend Brenda Song.”

“I had done a Disney Channel movie with her called Stuck in the Suburbs,” the comedian recalled. “So Brenda was like, ‘Hey, come hang out let’s go to Six Flags it’ll be a group of us.’ I show up, it’s just her and Ashley.”
