We all know the drill. Taylor Swift has a crush, she falls in love, they break up, she writes a song about it. It's happened so much that Taylor has even commented on this reputation she's stirred up in the public eye. Even though it's all speculation, the world likes to believe that when Taylor pens a track about an ex, this particular ex isn't too happy with her forever after that. But, it seems like we're all wrong because Jake Gyllenhaal just made light of a situation that he could have totally used to slam her.
Let's get some backstory. Jake and Taylor dated for a short period of time way back in 2010. Yes, seven years ago and we're still talking about it. But, why are we still talking about it? Because of the songs Taylor wrote about the movie star. DUH. The world is 99.9% sure her song "All Too Well" is about Jake and it's been speculated that most of her "Red" album is about him, like "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "State of Grace" and "The Moment I Knew" to name a few. As much as he would maybe like to forget he's the center of some of the most well-known songs in the world, everything has just come full circle.
Jake is currently promoting his new movie, Stronger, where he plays the Boston Marathon bombing survivor, Jeff Bauman. The two have become super close since Jake snagged the role and fans can see just how close they actually are in a new Q&A video. Jeff actually brings up Taylor and the songs she wrote about Jake which he shockingly takes pretty well.
Jeff said, "If you lost your legs in real life, do you think Taylor Swift would write a song about it?"
Jake, without flinching, says, "For me, or about it?" Jeff replies, "For you. Like a country song."
Then Jake gives an answer that is heard around the world. He said, "She sort of moved more into pop now." Ahhh, yes she has Jake, yes she certainly has. While some may not take this as a big deal, the editors here at J-14 are kind of tweaking about it. I mean, clearly, there's no bad blood between Taylor and Jake because if there was he would steer clear of any and all of her music. But, that's not the case. If he knows she has moved into pop, don't you think implies that he still listens to some of her work? WE THINK SO.
Jake isn't Taylor's only ex to admit that her music is on freaking fire. In Harry Styles' first solo interview with Rolling Stone, he opened up about his relaysh with Tay and her songwriting skills. He said, "We always say we write from personal experience and I think everyone does so it would be hypocritical of us to be like 'Oh, you can't write songs' and she's [Taylor Swift] really good, so they're really good songs. So I'm lucky in that sense."
Of course he agrees, Hazza thinks Taylor is super good. Who else has the same mantra? Taylor Lautner! He has talked about their romance as well and admitted, "It was a good time. It was a fun few months there. I don't know why you guys want to talk about it. That's what she does. She writes songs. It's good music. I listen to it." Our hearts are M-E-L-T-I-N-G. Taylor is queen and her exes can't get enough years after she's out of their lives.
To be fair, though, there was never really any huge drama between Jake and Taylor or her and boy Taylor or her and Harry so it's no surprise that they have all shaken off their break up and continued to listen to the jam after jam she puts into the world. Jake also dated Taylor 7 years ago and if he was still pouring over the whole thing then we'd have bigger issues to worry about. Regardless, Jake clearly keeps tabs on Taylor, in the most non-creepy way ever, which is super sweet. Just because a split happens doesn't mean you can never speak or think of that person again. And Jake just proved that he might know Taylor all too well.
