Taylor Swift's decision to pull all her songs off Spotify caused major controversy, and the "Shake It Off" singer has finally spoken up about her decision. She totally dissed the service, saying that she doesn't think it pays artists fairly!
She compared Spotify to "a grand experiment" that doesn't work for her.
"I'm not willing to contribute my life's work to an experiment that I don't feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists and creators of this music," she said. "And I just don't agree with perpetuating the perception that music has no value and should be free."
The singer says that she tried partnering with the music streaming service, but decided to pull all her music off the site because she didn't want to support it.
"A lot of people were suggesting to me that I try putting new music on Spotify with 'Shake It Off,' and so I was open-minded about it. I thought, 'I will try this. I'll see how it feels.' It didn't feel right to me."
While obviously we understand and respect her decision, we also kind of miss the days we could stream Red and Fearless online!
