For those needing their Twilight fix, author Stephenie Meyer gave us all a surprise when she said the 10th anniversary version of the book includes a new story!
According to a story on Entertainment Weekly, Meyer has written a re-imagining of the novel where she’s switched the genders of her protagonists.
In the new tale titled "Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined," Bella Swan is now a boy named Beau (short for Beaufort) and Edward Cullen is now Edythe. These news might surprise fans who probably weren't expecting an extra story with their 10th anniversary version of the novel.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Meyer explains in her foreword to the anniversary edition of the novel that she decided to go with the gender bending to prove that Bella isn’t a “damsel in distress” as certain critics have commented on the character. Rather the character is a “human in distress," and not as weak as people criticized her to be. We are so interested now to read this new version of one of our favorite books!
