If you haven’t heard of Anne Winters yet, get ready. It’s a name you’re not going to be able to get away from as soon as Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why hits Netflix. Currently, she stars in go90’s TV series Zac and Mia about two teens with cancer who fall for each other in an oncology ward.

“Chloe is a very different character than other people I’ve played,” Anne told Flare. “She’s a cheerleader. It’s funny because I had been working on the show before it had got released to the public, so I didn’t really say anything and also I can’t say much. I can’t really tell you too much, but I can say that I am one of the new characters and you will see a lot of me.”

Before landing this role, Anne actually auditioned for Hannah Baker before it ultimately went to Katherine. At that point, she wasn’t feeling eager to watch it – but then, she landed another role on the show.
“You know, when you don’t get something you’re like oh, that sucks,” Anne said in an interview with Hollywood Life. “When it was such a big hit at the beginning I was like you know what, I don’t need to watch it right now. I’ll wait ’til later. And then when I booked it I was like okay, I gotta watch all of them, so I binge watched it all. But I had read the book already and I read the script obviously from when I first auditioned for it, and yeah it’s an amazing concept, amazing script, amazing writers! I knew it was gonna be an amazing show, and obviously it’s doing so well.”

Season 2 of the Selena Gomez-produced series has seen the addition of seven new cast members, though none of them are actually considered “series regulars.” Anne Winters plays one of these new characters — Chloe, the head cheerleader and “It Girl” at Liberty. “It’s such an interesting topic because, I mean, the people [in the show] who are doing wrong maybe don’t even understand that it is wrong, and the people that are going through it are thinking, ‘Is this wrong?'” she said.
“This season will explore a little of those grey areas — it’s not as black and white as last season,” Anne continued. “So that when people raise the question of, ‘Well wasn’t it her fault that she did this or that?’ this season shows a different take on it. You’ll have a lot more answers this season on why people are doing what they’re doing.”
