Merit Leighton, star of Disney Junior's Sofia the First, is rumored to be in the running for a lead role in the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical 4! The DCOM is set to begin shooting in August 2016, and will arrive on the network in April 2017.
No word yet which role Merit is being considered for, but this is a huge milestone for any actor – so she must be really excited if these rumors are true!
In addition to this incredible HSM news, Merit is using her celebrity-status for good as one of the Celebrity Youth Ambassadors for The Jonathan Foundation's 3rd Annual Spring Fundraiser, which is being held on June 11th at the Marconi Automotive Museum in California. The Jonathan Foundation is an Assessment Scholarship Program that advocates for children diagnosed with Autism, Asperger’s, Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, ADHD, Dyslexia, XXX Syndrome and learning disabilities. It's incredible that Merit is lending a hand to this amazing event!
