Look, we love unicorns and have a fondness for mermaids, but once the leaves start changing colors we're all about witch fashion. Not only because it's so easy to fall in line with an all-black wardrobe (legit, you don't have to worry about clashing with anything ) but because the witch #aesthetic is definitely having a real fashion moment that, done well, makes you look fierce AF. Madelaine Petsch

Part of our reasoning here has to do with her portrayal as Riverdale's most sinister vixen, Cheryl Blossom, who fans think could actually be a witch. Like, look, we know that IRL Madelaine is a total sweetie pie. But when you see her poised and wearing a black dress, red hair flowing, you can't help but feel she's brewing something sinister. Tbh, we're scared… and a little bit obsessed.

Vanessa Hudgens

What's funny about Vanessa's transformation is that most of us still remember her as shy, sweet Gabriella Montez from the High School Musical franchise. And yet if she fell into any clique these days, she'd be sitting at the cafeteria with the goth kids. Seriously, with her mulberry lipstick, black hair, and love for fishnets, Gabriella's totally gone to the dark sign. Plus, Vanessa hasn't met an ebony gown she didn't love… and look amazing in.

Dove Cameron

Dove already has a streak of wickedness from her role as Descendants Mal, and white-blonde hair that would make her, in our honest opinion, the perfect Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Her style (which is always amazing) definitely veers into hyper-feminine babydoll territory most of the time. But when you put black lace against her porcelain collection, you can't help but think she spends her spare time brewing up love potions. How else would you explain how much she lucked out with Thomas Doherty?

Bella Thorne

We can already hear a few arguments for this because Bella's ever-changing look these days veers more towards a rave-y, early-days-of-Kesha thing. But when you think about how witches by nature are rebels, then Bella's no doubt the baddest witch in the game. The symbols on her over-sized shirt give off a total supernatural vibe. And when she's covered in sparkles (read: always), who are we to say she's not actually covered in hex powder, fresh from cursing her last ex-lover?

Trust us, Bella Thorne is what would happen if Glinda the Good Witch had a daughter who grew up aspiring to be Elphaba. And then, you know, bought a lot of fishnets and thigh-high boots.

Lorde

Lorde is 110% a witch.

Like seriously. Lorde is no doubt secretly a 300-year-old old witch who has been masquerading as a precocious pop superstar for the past four or so years. Or maybe not, we'll easily cop that as she slid into the Melodrama era she started wearing bolder colors, bright androgynous suits, even some whimsical pastel and holographic dresses that make her look like a fairy space princess. But the bottom line is that Lorde's default look continues to be hardcore, black-cat-owning, broomstick-riding, (former) Teen Witch. Everyone else can go home.
