Wizards of Waverly Place is forever one of the best Disney Channel series. Yes, that’s a bold claim to make, we know, but it’s true in our hearts. It’s been a decade since we first met the Russo family and a proper reunion is what everyone has been talking about. The cast did get together for David Henrie’s wedding and seeing Selena Gomez, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, David DeLuise and Maria Canals-Barrera back in action again sent every fan into a frenzy. Seriously, it brought on all the feels and made everyone wonder if an on-screen reunion as their characters will actually happen.
Jake stopped by 1010 WINS The Trend with Rebecca Granet and spilled that he would be totally down for some sort of Wizards movie or spin-off, but really, is all comes down to Selena as to whether it will ever happen.
“Let’s do the reunion, let’s do it for the fans! If I was to send Selena an emoji, it would be the prayer hands emoji,” Jake said. “If there was anyone who were to really have a say in what we were actually going to do, it would be Selena. If she wants it to happen, I think then we’re all in.”
So it seems to be that the ball is in Sel’s court! She has said that she forever loves her Wizards family, but she has made it clear that although she and David have joked about it, she doesn’t have any plans to ever make it happen.
“I don’t know. It was fun, but I didn’t think it was going to be that big of a deal when David and I were talking about it! I understand, I’m so proud of that and it was so fun. But it was just so funny, we were talking, having dinner, talking hypothetically about where [our characters] would be. But we’re all older, David’s married now, we’re in such different places in our lives,” Selena said in an interview with The Zach Sang Show.
Although Jake and all of us longtime fans would love to see this happen, better not get our hopes up, at least not right now. Jake did go on to say that being on the show is something that will always mean the world to him.
“Getting to do that show for so many years with a family that became like my real family, that was probably one of the best experiences for me,” Jake said.
The cast really is fam for life. Crying over the cuteness.
