Shailene Woodley recently opened up about how she deals with heartbreak after a major breakup. In a recent interview with The Huffington Post, she said that she always makes time for herself when she's upset.
"I remember when I was 17, I had broken up with someone who was my first love," she said. "After we broke up, I decided to take a year to know me. I didn't want to date anyone else. I didn't want to look at anyone else. What I found was I had more fun with myself than I ever had with another person."
She also said that it's important to learn new things about yourself during hard times.
"My experience has been when I’ve been heartbroken, I say take a break. Do you. Taste the world as an individual rather than someone who's in partnership. Learn to love yourself. Learn what makes you laugh and learn what makes you happy," she continued.
We think that's great advice! When you're sad, you have a tendency to dwell on the past. Instead of spending all day missing her ex-boyfriends, Shailene works to better herself.
