Zayn Malik has busy working on his solo career, but he's been keeping it mostly under wraps. However, his new manager Sarah Stennett recently opened up to Billboard about her daily schedule and involvement with the former One Direction singer — and she basically implied that his old band was holding him back from "becoming an important artist" because he had to "compromise" too much.
"The environment he was in was all about compromise. My job is simple: Make sure nobody gets in the way of him becoming an important artist," she said.
Well, it definitely sounds like she's up for the challenge. While we definitely think that Zayn was probably stifled creatively a little bit when he was in the band (because he wasn't as interested in the type of music 1D records), we don't think that they got in the way of his success. And now that he's solo, he can call all the shots!
