We caught up with Zoey Deutch, who stars in the hilarious new flick Vampire Diaries, and she spilled everything from her embarrassing moments on set to her real-life troublemaking tendencies! After getting all of this inside info, we can hardly wait for the film to hit theaters this Friday.
Vampire Academy isn't your average vampire movie. The plot follows the life of Zoey's character, Rose Hathaway, who is half human, half vampire — aka a Dhampir. And her legacy? Protecting the Moroi (the peaceful vampires) from the Strigoi (the bloodthirsty, mean vampires). Sounds like quite the job to us!
When we asked Zoey about her character, she EXCLUSIVELY told J-14.com all the deets about her role, saying, "I play this awesome, funny, fantastic role model who knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. And most importantly, she’s a loyal best friend to the only person in her life who is her best friend because she doesn’t have any family."
Since Rose is pretty sassy and a total troublemaker, we were curious to find out if Zoey is anything like her character in real life. Surprisingly, she is!
"Absolutely," Zoey says. "What I appreciate about her is she’s the lead, she’s the heroine and the narrator of the film, but she makes mistakes and she isn’t perfect, like all of us. I find strength in that vulnerability."
Of course mistakes happen while making a movie, and one of them happened to be pretty embarrassing for the star!
"My life is just one long, long embarrassing tale after another," Zoey spills. "I was doing a fight scene with Sarah Hyland and I fell backwards on my bum and you could just see my legs flailing in the frame. It was very, very funny. It hurt but it was very humorous!"
Zoey says there's a "little bit of something for everybody" in this movie, so we can't wait to see it this weekend. This is some major action we don't want to miss out on!
Are you excited to see Vampire Academy? Let me know in the comments!
