If you haven't heard of 12AM yet, you soon will. The Toronto-based artist is the latest hot commodity to come out of the 6ix and he is already making quite a bit of noise in the music scene. His first single ever, "Couple Pills," gained over 900k streams in Spring 2016, and he just got finished opening up for a rapper named Watsky on his 22-date European tour. Despite being extremely busy, 12AM is ready to take 2017 by storm and focus on his music to make this his biggest year yet.

The young artist recently took over the J-14 Snapchat to celebrate the release of his EP AFTERPARTY, and we talked to him all about what his music means to him. He also revealed why this project in particular was special to him — and his answer is so relatable.

"What makes this project special to me is that it was made in my basement. The recording, mixing and mastering for 90% of it was all done here with my MacBook and my mic. Living in Toronto on my own for the first time really brought out all the feelings in this EP," he shared.

"The partying, the relationships, the love and just surviving on my own. It's hard out here for young kids trying to make art with everything being so expensive, [so] the stress adds up. I'm happy, though. I really feel like it's connecting with people. It's an amazing feeling to have people around the world say they're loving it."
