The night of nights! As always, the MTV Video Music Awards didn’t disappoint. This time around, celebrities and fans took to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for a star-studded evening that took place on Sunday, August 28.

Thanks to hosts LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow, things went smoothly as stars took the stage and handed out various awards. The awards ceremony marked Jack’s first hosting gig. The rapper, who also performed at this year’s VMAs, released his album Come Home the Kids Miss You in May.

“To me, what puts me at ease is just the thought of evolution and realizing that there’s nothing I need to recreate. I think that’s where a lot of people get stuck. They have a moment and they’re like, in order to keep this same moment going, they feel like they need to replicate the moment,” Jack told Paper magazine earlier this month. “But I’ve evolved in many ways, from how my music sounds to how I look to how I carry myself to just who I am as a man.”

He’s definitely evolved as a huge star an even his performance showed it. Other than Jack, all the stars who took the stage to sing were full of energy. Before the show even started, some musicians — like Dove Cameron — rocked the red carpet with their tunes. Once the show was officially underway, Eminem and Snoop Dogg took the stage for an epic duet. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anitta, BLACKPINK, J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Kane Brown, Lizzo, Måneskin, Marshmello x Khalid and Panic! at the Disco also performed during the awards ceremony.

Of course, it wouldn’t be the VMAs without some seriously wild moments going down! Other than Dove Cameron and Taylor Swift — among others — who came out victorious by winning some of the biggest awards of the evening, the “Look What You Made Me Do” songstress even announced an album during her acceptance speech.

“I had sort of made up my mind that, if you were going to be this generous and give us this, I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand-new album comes out October 21. And I will tell you more at midnight,” Taylor told the crowd while accepting Video of the Year.
