Lili Reinhart catapulted into the spotlight thanks to her role as the one and only Betty Cooper on Riverdale and while we’re only three seasons into the ridiculously yet perfectly dramatic CW series, girl is already planning her next move. The 22-year-old actress knows she’s not going to play Betty forever — nor does she want to — and she’s ready to become a full-fledged movie star.

Speaking to Vogue Australia, Lili spoke all about how she’s ready to try different things and break away from the notion that she is Betty Cooper. Lili and her character are very different IRL and Lili the actress wants everyone to be able see what she can do as an actor.

“Well I definitely think that my heart is in film, that’s where I feel myself most artistically fulfilled. I see myself hopefully doing a lot of feature films and playing roles that are not high school characters, I’m definitely right now…looking at other projects to do in the future,” Lili said. “I’m very much staying away from high school-based characters and scripts because I play a high school student for nine months out of the year, I don’t want to play…I don’t want to do another high school story.”

Lili basically wants to take on movie roles that are much different than what she’s used to doing every day on the set of Riverdale.

“I think in order for me to feel that I’m pushing myself and growing as a performer, I need to kind of do things that are a little bit more adult and maybe things that are more grounded, because Riverdale is so over the top and very fast paced and everything is very dramatic,” she said. “I feel like I’m more drawn to things that are very dramatic, you know, slow, and kind of have a slow burn and take their time.”

So yeah, perhaps life chasing after a Gargoyle King and avoiding Jingle Jangle isn’t what Lili wants to be doing forever. It’s something she’s spoken about before, too.

“I don’t want to play Betty Cooper my whole life. I’m ready to play different characters,” Lili said to Teen Vogue. “I know what my limits are. I know that after Riverdale, I don’t want to do another 22-episode show because it really does take up your entire life, and as a 22-year-old, I want to be able to do other things.”

And it looks like she’s on track to do just that. In-between filming seasons of Riverdale, Lili appeared in the movie Galveston and has previously had roles in the films Miss Stevens, The Good Neighbor, and The Kings of Summer. She’s just getting started.
