After it hit theaters in May 2019, Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin quickly became a fan favorite. Well people, get ready, because the story isn’t over just yet! That’s right, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a brand new spinoff series about Prince Anders is coming to Disney+, and J-14 has all the exciting details!

For those who forgot, Prince Anders was a prince from a fictional kingdom called Skanland who visited Agrabah in the hopes of courting Princess Jasmine. Although he only had two scenes in the movie, he was pretty hilarious and made a big impression on viewers, so it’s safe to say that this new show is going to be epic!

Billy Magnussen starred as the handsome prince in the movie, and the outlet reports that not only will he reprise his role for the upcoming series, but it was actually his idea!

That’s not all. The producer of the flick, Dan Link, also revealed back in August that they’re already working on a sequel. As fans know, the original cartoon had three movies in total — AladdinAladdin: The Return of Jafar and Aladdin: The King of Thieves — and when Syfy Wire asked the producer if they’re planning on remaking the rest of the films, he revealed that the second movie is already in “early stages.”

“We’d love to. People clearly loved the movie and watched it multiple times and we get lots of fan letters and people asking us to make Return [of] Jafar,” he explained. “I can just tell you that we’re in early stages right now, but we’re certainly talking about another movie. Like with Aladdin, it will not be a straight remake of any movie that’s been made before, so we’re looking at, ‘Where’s the best way to go with these characters.’”

The live-action remake of Aladdin starred Mena Massoud as the street rat fans know and love, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine and Will Smith as the hilarious genie.

“The audience response has really touched us in thinking about where we can go with these stories,” he added. “And we feel like these characters have more adventures in store.”

The film came out on May 24, 2019, and it made over $1 billion at the box office. It was seriously so epic seeing the classic animated film come to life!
