Some Ariana Grande fans are not happy with Eminem. On Friday, January 17, the 47-year-old rapper released a surprise new album and one of the tracks, called “Unaccommodating,” included a lyric about the May 2017 bombing in Manchester, which occurred at the end of Ariana’s concert and tragically killed 22 people.

“I’m contemplating yelling ‘bombs away’ on the game / Like I’m outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting,” he rapped before the sound of an explosion was heard on the song.

Social media users were quick to slam Eminem for his “disgusting” and “pathetic” lyric. They also trended #EminemIsOverParty on Twitter.

“I wish I could unhear this. This is so low & disgusting. This isn’t something to joke about for money & clout! I can’t believe this would even cross his mind,” one person tweeted. Another added, “I don’t see the need to use something that hurt so many to generate money and take it as a mockery, s**t.”

Figen Murray, whose son died during the attack, took to Twitter and voiced her opinion on the recently released song. She called it “pointless.”

“Feels like he is piggybacking on the fame of Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber and says distasteful things about other celebrities,” she wrote. “Not clever. Totally pointless. And before all Eminem fans pounce on me, I am not interested and will not engage.”

Even some of Eminem’s biggest fans expressed negative feelings about the line of lyrics.

“I’m a huge Eminem fan but the lyric about the Manchester bombing is so disrespectful. Possibly my all-time favorite artist has left me disappointed with such a bizarre and hurtful lyric aimed at my city,” an upset fan wrote. One other said, “I love Eminem but this guy really has a bar in his new song mocking the Ariana Grande concert bombing and then has an explosion noise straight after.”

Previously, in 2017, Eminem supported the Manchester bombing victims on social media and asked his Twitter followers to donate to their families.

He has yet to respond to the social media backlash about the song.
