Can't get Baby Ariel's new music out of your head? Welcome to the party. The social media star, who has over 8 million followers on Instagram alone, kicked off her music career with an upbeat jam titled "Aww" followed by the equally as fun "Perf." J-14 caught up with musical.ly star turned singer following the release of her "Perf" music video, and she opened up about what it was like shooting the video that's gotten so much positive fan reaction. In the video, Ariel is broken up with by a boy – which like, HIS LOSS. So what does she do to rebound? She orders the ~perfect boy~ to replace him, who also happens to be a mannequin. And as it turns out, it wasn't exactly easy shooting scenes with the guy.
She explains, "I was acting with a mannequin. I think honestly that was my biggest challenge. There was one scene, where I actually had to pick up this mannequin and throw him in a car. From the outside, it looks he's like two pounds… this mannequin was the heaviest mannequin I've ever picked up in my entire life."'
As for that hilarious scene where Baby Ariel tries stuffing the mannequin into a car – yeah, it was just as hard shooting it as it looked on screen.
"Placing him in an uber – or car, whatever – was just difficult. Like his arms were falling off. His legs were falling off," Ariel spills.
Getting dumped (er, fake dumped) wasn't exactly a walk in the park either for the singer. Baby Ariel reveals to J-14 that it was the first time she really had to dig deep emotionally on a set.
"That was also very scary because I have acted before and the things I've acted for – like I've done auditions and self tapes, where I had to be serious. But the first time on a real set, where I had to be really sad – I was like, 'Oh my Gosh. I don't know what to do.'"
Well, all that acting experience is going a long way because there's yet another music video coming up for her next song.
"This next song is something that is like just really, really special to me. And I'm just really excited for it," she said. "I have shot the music video. I'm so excited. It's a secret. But this is is like, it's something different – every song I do, I'm excited. But this one, it's gonna be different. So I'm nervous."
Well, if "Aww" and "Perf" are any indication, we think it's safe to say Ariel is going to hit it out of the park once again with her next song.
