After making her debut on the OnlyFans app and earning $1 million in just 24 hours, Bella Thorne has issued an apology to her followers. For those who missed it, after the former Disney Channel star joined the subscription-based platform — know for its adult content — she received major backlash from other app users who accused her of “scamming” people with the content she posted. According to screenshots posted to Twitter, she charged users $200 for a “naked” photo, but did not follow through.

One Twitter user alleged that because she lied about the content she was posting, OnlyFans changed its polices, which “endangered the livelihood of hundreds of thousands of creators” who use the app as their primary source of income. After Bella’s controversial arrival to the app, the Los Angeles Times reported that OnlyFans now has new restrictions on spending limits, but denied that the 22-year-old prompted this change.

“Transaction limits are set to help prevent overspending and to allow our users to continue to use the site safely,” the app said in a statement. “We value all of the feedback received since this change was implemented and we will continue to review these limits.”

Following the outrage her OnlyFans profile caused online, Bella issued an apology via Twitter in a series of posts uploaded on Saturday, August 29. She began by explaining to her 6.7 million followers that her goal was to “remove the stigma behind sex, sex work, and the negativity that surrounds the word ‘sex’ itself by bringing a mainstream face to it.”

“I wanted to bring attention to the site, the more people on the site the more likely of a chance to normalize the stigmas, And in trying to do this I hurt you. I have risked my career a few times to remove the stigma behind sex work, porn, and the natural hatred people spew,” she continued. “I am a mainstream face and when you have a voice, a platform, you try to use you in helping others and advocate for something bigger than yourself. Again in this process I hurt you and for that I’m truly sorry.”

Before concluding her statement, Bella told fans that she has plans to meet with OnlyFans about the “new restrictions.”

“This is f**ked up and I’m sorry,” she added. “Comment any ideas or concerns you want brought up to [OnlyFans]! And send me your links and a pic so I can promote you guys.”
