Get ready, people, because the first look at Bella Thorne‘s upcoming movie Infamous is finally here and, from the looks of it, the action-packed flick is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time! Yep, the former Disney Channel starlet and her costar Jake Manley took to Instagram and shared the first trailer on Tuesday, May 19, which seriously made fans even more excited to see the movie.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the modern-day retelling of Bonnie and Clyde “follows Arielle (played by Bella), a small-town girl with the dream of becoming famous no matter what, as her life turns upside down when she meets Dean (played by Jake), an ex-con working for his abusive father. The two have an instant connection, but after the accidental death of Dean’s dad, they’re forced to go on the run. Their plan to finance the trip? Robbing gas stations and small shops.”
Obsessed with the idea of becoming famous, Arielle starts to post videos of their crimes online and the couple instantly goes viral, which leads them down a seemingly dark and dangerous path.
OK, that seriously sounds intense! Writer and director Joshua Caldwell also told the publication that on June 12, when the film finally drops, fans will see Bella like never before.
“With Infamous, we explore the lengths people will go to achieve relevance in the wild world of social media. What better vehicle for this than Bella Thorne?” he dished to EW. “She’s a boundary-pushing, driving force online and off, and her performance elevates this film into a neon candy adrenaline thrill ride.”
As fans know, Infamous isn’t the only thing the Shake It Up alum has in the works lately. In March the 22-year-old signed a major TV development deal with Fox for both scripted and unscripted content. Bella reportedly has plans to work closely with the network to develop more teen-centric programming along the lines of Riverdale and Gossip Girl in hopes of bringing a brand new voice.
