Beauty vlogger Bretman Rock took to Twitter on Wednesday, April 22, and apologized after a past, racially insensitive video of him saying the n-word resurfaced online. The internet star claimed that the clip was filmed back when he was a “15 year old piece of s**t,” and hoped that fans could accept his apology so he would be able to “learn, grow and mature” from the entire situation.

“Just woke up to a video of me resurfacing from five years ago — I’ve apologized for that video before [and] will happily do it again. It was as stupid [and] ignorant then as it is now. I’m no longer a 15 year old piece of s**t and I know that behavior is unacceptable… Period,” the 21-year-old wrote on Twitter. He then added, “Nobody is ‘exposing me’ — that video has always existed… Like I said it’s stupid as f**k and ignorant as f**k. But it exists. That’s not a reflection of who I am now. If you wanna cancel me, cancel 15 year old Bretman. Let me learn [and] grow [and] mature please.”

In a separate Twitter post, Bretman also tried to turn the entire situation into a lesson for his 4.6 million followers.

“PLEASE let this be a lesson that everything you post online stays with you. That video still haunts me to this day [and] I am so ashamed of it. What you think is acceptable when you’re young isn’t going to age well. WORDS MATTER. They hurt and they will live with you forever,” he explained.

As fans know, this came just a few days after the social media star slammed fans who have been showing up to his house asking for pictures, leaving notes on his car and even going up to the door and asking his boyfriend if he’s home.

“Please do not show up at my house and ask me for a picture, especially during this time when everybody is supposed to be mother f**king staying home,” he said in the since-expired Instagram Stories videos. “Can y’all not do that, please, because next time I really will be calling the mother f**king cops.”
