As if the boys from BTS weren’t perfect enough already, they’ve done yet another amazing thing to add to the already long list. The k-pop boy band raised $1.4 million for UNICEF with their “Love Myself” Campaign.

The purpose of the campaign was to end violence in young adults and promote self respect. It also encouraged teens to follow their dreams and believe in themselves — clearly something all of the boys feel strongly about. The money donated to the campaign came in from both direct donations from the band and from a portion of the sales from BTS’ Love Yourself series: Tear, Answer, and Her. Wow, they did that.

Not only have they been donating tons of money to the cause, but they’ve also spent a lot of time speaking up on the matter to help raise awareness on the seriousness of this problem. Earlier this year, they even gave a speech to the UN. “Like most people, I’ve made many and plenty mistakes in my life,” RM said in the emotional speech. “I have many faults, and I have many more fears, but I’m gonna embrace myself as hard as I can, and I’m starting to love myself gradually just little by little. What is your name? Speak yourself.”

“In the year since UNICEF and BTS joined together to eradicate violence against children, we have raised over [$1.4 million],” UNICEF Korea said in a statement. “During it, they have continued to spread their positive influence, such as with the UN General Assembly ‘Speak Yourself’ speech.”

The speech had a huge impact on its listeners. “I was overwhelmed after hearing BTS’ UN speech in September,” Lee Ki-cheol, the secretary general of UNICEF Korea, said. “On that night, I bumped into a diplomat who told me that Korea has made two great accomplishments during the past 60 years — democratization and industrialization, and production of BTS.”

He added, “I could realize how much BTS’ campaign has been giving hope and good influence to people and how much it has enhanced the national prestige.”

We are certainly proud to call them our idols.
