We were all obsessed with Camila Mendes and Charles Melton‘s adorable PDA at the The Sun Is Also a Star premiere in Los Angeles on May 13. But it turns out, there was something else that totally caught our attention that night — and that was the Riverdale actress’ tattoo! Wait, what? Who knew she had a tattoo?!
That’s right, in her gorgeous, yellow dress, the brunette beauty showed off a small ink design on her rib cage, and the meaning behind it is seriously touching.
It may be hard to make out, but the small tat actually says, “To build a home.” And although we’re not 100 percent sure when she got it, in a 2017 interview with Latina Magazine, she opened up all about it.
“Moving has been a huge part of my life,” she explained. “I went through this whole thing and I realized that you can only establish a sense of self within yourself because everything else around you is going to change no matter what. I created this idea in my head that no matter where I go I’m home because I am — my body is my home.”
Wow, how inspiring? But don’t expect the 24-year-old to get another ink any time soon. In an interview with Refinery29 back in 2017, her BFF and Riverdale costar Lili Reinhart revealed that although she wants to get a matching tattoo with Camila, the actress is too afraid to get another! Aww, how cute would it be if they got matching ink designs?
As for Lili, 22, she’s got a few tats of her own. She’s got upside down triangle with a horizontal line through it on her rib cage (it’s believed to be the alchemy symbol for Earth), an arrow and a rose on her arm and a cross on her finger.
We’re seriously obsessed with Camila’s ink.
