After more than 64,000 fans signed a petition to have Kylie Jenner removed from Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s newly released music video, the “I Like It” rapper spoke out and defended the reality star.

For those who missed it, the visual for their song “WAP,” featured cameos from Kylie alongside NormaniRosalíaRubi Rose and Sukihana. After it was released on Friday, August 7, fans took to social media and expressed some outrage that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was included. Some people even stared a Change.com petition to have her removed from the video.

After catching wind of the backlash, Cardi addressed the entire situation in a series of since-deleted tweets on Sunday, August 9. One fan on Twitter posted a clip of Normani doing the splits alongside a caption that read, “Normani did ALL this and Kylie walked down the hall and opened a door. If that’s not a perfect visual indication of Black women having to do the most and white women do the bare minimum to get somewhere, I don’t know what is.”

The 27-year-old hit back, “Normani is one of the best female artist that dances Like she dances her f**kin ass off! Why would she open a door? Please tell me how that would make sense? The best part of the song is the beat [and] hook it what makes you want to shake your a**.”

She continued, “Not everything is about race. There’s issues out here in the world that it is about race that I preach all the time about. This is not about f**kin race.”

In another social media post, Cardi explained why she included Kylie in the video.

“Why did I put Kylie on my music video? She treated my sister [Hennessy] and daughter [Kulture] so lovely at her kid [Stormi‘s] bday party. Travis [Scott] and [Offset] are real close Kris Jenner [has been] giving me advice on certain things I ask for and her husband real cool with mine,” she added.

Finally, in one final Twitter post about the entire thing, Cardi responded to fan who wrote, “Normani danced, that’s her talent! Kylie strutted like a model, that’s her talent! People just weird!”

“Exactly,” the musician added.

Although Kylie has yet to respond to the fan backlash, she did take to Instagram and share a series of behind-the-scenes photos from on set of the music video.
