Since celebrities seem like they have the most glamorous lives ever, it may be hard to believe that they were once normal people. That’s right. Before finding fame, a ton of your favorite stars walked the halls of their hometown schools just like us. And although they seem pretty confident now, some of them even had to deal with their share of insecurities, mean girls and bullies.

Take Noah Centineo, for example. At the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before actor took home the award for best comedy movie actor. And during his acceptance speech, he made it a point to send some kind words to anyone out there who is dealing with bullies.

“You know, I really want to honor all the kids out there that are bullied and that have it hard and come from a really messed-up situation,” he said. “I just love you guys, and you can’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. You cannot.”

And he wasn’t the only one to speak up about the issue at the awards show. During the Jonas Brothers‘ acceptance speech for their decade award, the boys got real about not letting bullies define him.

They explained, “I think for all of us, the thing that’s most important is that we share with you that those things that you feel like you’re singled out about, that you’re bullied about, that define you in your teen years, can become the thing that make you special. It’s your gift. It’s your power.”

More stars like Taylor SwiftAriana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and more have all also opened up about being bullied, and our hearts are breaking for them.
