We didn’t think it was possible, but we’ve just fallen even more in love with Chad Michael Murray. The actor, who starred in The CW show One Tree Hill and A Cinderella Story (alongside Hilary Duff), stopped by Bailee Madison and Kaitlin Vilasuso‘s new podcast Between Us on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, where they did something really special. The trio surprised an 18-year-old three-time cancer survivor, named Alexandra Wilson, who found escape during her treatments by watching One Tree Hill.
The moment was seriously so touching. And what made it even more emotional was when the 37-year-old opened up about why he got into acting in the first place. “When I was fifteen, I was in the hospital. Nothing, I mean, even comparable,” he told Alexandra. “I was there for about three months, and I became an actor because I wanted to create entertainment to keep people’s minds off it — to keep [their minds] in great places. And that’s what’s so beautiful.”
The actor also revealed that for him, shows like Scooby Doo and The Simpsons took his mind off things when he was younger. “I would sit in bed, and I remember how lonely I was. And I’d just turn on the TV and I’d just forget about everything that was going on for so long,” he continued. “I said, ‘That’s what I want to do. I want to be an actor someday so that I can give that to somebody else as a kid.’ So, you just brought everything full circle to know that you were sitting there, and watching something that we put our heart and soul into. Thank you so much. That warms my heart, beyond — you have no idea.” Yeah, we’re totally not tearing up… there’s just something in our eye…
