It has been reported that the coronavirus has already killed 304 people, with more than 14,380 confirmed cases in China. The disease has spread to 15 other countries across the world, including Germany, Japan, Australia, France, India, the U.S. and more — which has led to worldwide concern. In America, there are 11 cases so far — two in Illinois, one in Washington, one in Arizona, one in Massachusetts and six in California.

Some of Vanessa’s 37.7 million Instagram followers slammed her “insensitive” post. One fan wrote, “Not good laughing. This is a serious disease.”

Another added, “You’re aware people HAVE lost their life to the flu…and with the [coronavirus] epidemic [right now]???”

“Yikes this is in poor taste,” a third commenter wrote. One other added, “That’s not funny at all.”

Vanessa isn’t the first star to come under fire from fans after joking about the illness. YouTuber Logan Paul received backlash from his 17.2 million followers on Wednesday, January 29, after he made fun of the dangerous coronavirus on Instagram.

“F**k the coronavirus,” he captioned a shot of him and some friends wearing face masks on a private jet.

“Man this isn’t funny at all. It’s spreading all over the world,” a fan told the social media star. One other person added, at the time, “It’s not a joke, more than 4,000 infected and almost 136 people died and more than 1,000 in critical condition already. There are more than 40 [cases] outside China including 5 in United States.”

“People are dying from the coronavirus. Noting to joke about. Guess he never learns,” another added, referring to Logan’s past of sparking controversy online.
