It's official – America's favorite dance teacher Abby Lee Miller is headed to jail.
The sentencing comes after the Dance Moms star Abby Lee was accused of fraud over two years ago and now she's actually going to be put behind bars for a one year and a day. The news is shocking because no one thought she would really have to serve time. Since the news broke, Abby has spoken out about her conviction and so have some of her former students who are sending positive vibes her way.
Abby was caught outside the courthouse and she said, "I feel relieved. I feel peaceful." Not only that but she also chatted with Entertainment Tonight and said, "I have been so very successful — maybe that'll be some time to work. There's dancing in it! There's a few physical limitations, dietary limitations [in prison], of course, but it'll be OK," she added. "It's a realm of the world I know nothing about. I just know what I know and I do the best I can."
If that wasn't enough, Abby actually made an appearance on Good Morning America and said, "I’m just going to pretend I’m shooting a movie and we’re on set and I’m there for 10 months, and that’s how it’s going to be."
Wow! It looks like Abby is taking her sentencing like a mature adult and is willing to serve the time that she was given. She is not backing down and this whole thing kind of echoes the work ethic she has taught all along during the show. She can't give up, can't back down and must do the best she can while taking on the task at hand.
Abby Lee's former student, Elliana Walmsley, posted a photo on the two together on Instagram with the caption, "I love you Miss Abby. I wouldn't be where I am without you. You have taught me so much about dance and life. Look how I can bevel now and "break" my feet. You mean SO much to me and I will always be there for you. ❤❤❤ @therealabbylee @aldcstudiola #ALDC#aldcla#alllovedanceconfidence#aldcalways."
Maesi Caes wrote a long message to Abby Lee on Instagram and said, "Sending so many powerful, positive vibes, HUUUUUUUGGGGGEEE hugs, LOTS of love and prayers of strength across the miles to @therealabbylee for my #maesismotivationalmonday 🙏 Sometimes the strength within you is not a big, fiery flame for all to see. It's just a tiny spark that whispers "YOU GOT THIS" 🔥🙌❤ Wishing you all were as blessed as me to know the REAL Miss Abby, who is truly inspiring, generous and passionate about not only the art of dance, but instilling and sharing that passion with all of us whom she was proud to call her own. Can't thank you enough for teaching me about more than just dance ... but more importantly about LIFE @therealabbylee 🙏 #aldc #aldcla #aldcalways #alllovedanceconfidence #aldcstrong #dancemoms #dancemoms1 #thebestisyettocome #aldcminis #future #nextchapter #excitingthingstocome #blessed #grateful #thankful #humble #dance #journey #positive #positivevibes #staystrong #yougotthis #strength #support #loveyou."
Kamryn Beck posted a photo of the two on Instagram as well.
None of the OG squad has acknowledged Abby Lee's sentencing on social media. That cast has sort of distanced themselves from her recently so it is not that surprising. The OG cast members including Maddie Ziegler, Mackenzie Ziegler, Chloe Lukasiak, Nia Sioux, Paige Hyland, Brooke Hyland and Kendall Vertes have grown up A LOT since their days on Dance Moms.
Even though Abby Lee might be the reason they skyrocketed to fame, they have all grown up and done some pretty amazing things since the show ended. Not to mention they have all become beautiful young women!
