OMG, you guys! Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie is officially a father! The Disney Channel alum and his wife, Maria Cahill, just welcomed their first child — and it’s a girl. Yep, that’s right! ET reported that the couple’s first daughter, Pia, was born in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Soon after his daughter was born, the actor took to Instagram to share an adorable photo of the brand new family of three. Along with the photo, which was taken at the hospital, David went into detail about the struggles he and Maria faced while trying to grow their family. In particular, he revealed that they suffered three miscarriages before Pia.

“Today is a particularly special day for Maria and I… and it’s special because in order to get to where we are today, with the joy of our newborn in our arms, my wife and I went through trials. I felt compelled to share this because I had no clue just how difficult trying to start a family could be. See, Pia Philomena Francesca Henrie has brothers and sisters… Maria and I suffered three miscarriages before finally being able to carry Pia to full term.”

Today is a particularly special day for Maria and I… and it’s special because in order to get to where we are today, with the joy of our newborn in our arms, my wife and I went through trials. I felt compelled to share this because I had no clue just how difficult trying to start a family could be. See, Pia Philomena Francesca Henrie has brothers and sisters… Maria and I suffered three miscarriages before finally being able to carry Pia to full term. While it was insanely difficult recovering from miscarriage after miscarriage, we knew if we were ever going to be able to hold a baby of our own in our arms that we must not let the tragedy affect our marriage, but rather grow closer together! We stayed faithful to that conviction and had a little help from @franciscus. The reason Pia’s middle name is Francesca is because I personally asked pope Francis to pray for Maria and I to have a baby. He took our hands, held them together, said a special blessing, then looked up and told me not to worry that a baby would be coming – that was pretty much exactly nine months ago. For all those who are struggling #pray #hope and #dontworry !! Always.

David also shared a photo of himself meeting Pope Francis, which he said gave the couple faith that everything would ultimately work out.

“While it was insanely difficult recovering from miscarriage after miscarriage, we knew if we were ever going to be able to hold a baby of our own in our arms that we must not let the tragedy affect our marriage, but rather grow closer together!” he wrote. “We stayed faithful to that conviction and had a little help from @franciscus. The reason Pia’s middle name is Francesca is because I personally asked pope Francis to pray for Maria and I to have a baby. He took our hands, held them together, said a special blessing, then looked up and told me not to worry that a baby would be coming.” How sweet is that?

Despite the fear of suffering another miscarriage, the couple celebrated the pregnancy and even took to Instagram back in September 2018 to share the gender of their baby. David wrote alongside the post, “ITS A GIRL ITS A GIRL ITS A GIRL. Im a Poppa!!!!!!! Im so overwhelmed with joy I had to share this with you guys.”

On February 26, the 29-year-old actor took to Instagram to share a selfie of him and his pregnant wife. Initially, we thought it was just a beautiful photo of the couple, but what we learned upon reading the caption was that the sweater Maria was wearing was actually a present from David’s Wizards costar Selena Gomez. How sweet is that?

“Aunty @selenagomez gave my wife a lil sweater to keep Pia warm before she arrives!!! Pia is coming!!!!” David wrote.

Wait, did he call Selena “Aunty?” Yep! He most certainly did, and that’s because he’s still super tight with his former costar. In fact, she thinks of him as brother.

Back when David and Maria tied the knot in April 2017, the “It Ain’t Me” songstress was sure to hop on Instagram to share some photos from their beautiful day. And while we were totally in our feels about the Wizards of Waverly Place reunion that was happening before our eyes, Sel was in her feelings about something else.

Along with a series of gorgeous photos from the wedding, the 26-year-old wrote, “Very much in my feelings about my big brother getting married. Even though we for sure knew it would be him first. May God bless you and your beautiful wife Henrie!”

David was also very grateful that the cast was able to make it to the wedding, writing, “It was truly and honor to have my whole cast come to my big day! Could be more blessed and appreciative of all that we did together… Many memories I’ll never forget and always cherish.” Aww!

Obviously, the actor is still very close with his Disney Channel famespecially Selena, so we can’t wait to see everyone’s social media posts, now that baby Pia has arrived. Congrats to the happy couple!
