It’s time to celebrate because Debby Ryan just got engaged to her boyfriend Josh Dun! And OMG guys, he proposed in the most adorable way possible. Get this — the Twenty One Pilots drummer asked the Disney actress to marry him in a tree house in the woods in New Zealand. Honestly, how romantic is that? He even flew her family out to be with them! Yeah, we don’t think it could have been any cuter.
“I said yes! Well technically I said ‘NO WAY’ twice but I meant yes,” Debby wrote on Twitter alongside some adorable snaps of the moment. In the photos, Josh could be seen on one knee while the Jessie star looked completely surprised and in love. The actress even showed off her gorgeous diamond ring and wow, talk about goals.
“My dude asked me on a date. I said yeah because I always want to go on dates with him. Then he asked me to be his forever dude,” the actress wrote in an emotional Instagram post. “He does things well, and right. His timing has pressed us and never failed us. He’s sincere and fun and disciplined and strong as heck and a nerd and a rockstar and a good midwestern man and a silly shirtless boy, and his family is endlessly warm and delightful and are such champions.”
“I have two parents and a brother; they’re superheroes and they’re my home. They’ve been the only thing that moves my needle with the fierceness of deep empathy,” she continued. “I have never found that out in the world. I guess I figured it wasn’t a connection you could stumble upon, only something you could only be born into. Falling in love with Joshua was discovering it in the wild. Building it with him, building in certainty, infinite in wonder. Our own lil family.”
“Feels like growing up and moving through life is just evolving through different types of complicated,” the 25-year-old wrote. “He is where all the voices narrow into one sound. My only simplicity, where the important things are clear and the other things aren’t that important. He’s my heart outside my body. He’s a cold water awakening and a warm bed; he’s the place I can rest. Dudes for life. It was a really good date.”
As J-14 readers know, Debby and Josh have a long history together. They first dated years ago but quietly broke up in 2014, with Debby confirming in 2015 that she was single. Then, in 2016, rumors spread that that they might be back together after they were spotted at a holiday party together. But earlier this year, Debby confirmed that she and the 30-year-old were back on, and the rest is history. You know what they say, what’s meant to be, will be!
Ugh our hearts are literally bursting. And things got even cuter when Debby revealed that her future husband even flew out her brother and his wife to surprise her!
Not to mention the “JEBBY” balloons he had waiting for her. So cute!
Some of the couple’s Hollywood friends were quick to congratulate them. “My babies,” Cole Sprouse — who starred in Suite Life on Deck with the actress — gushed on Instagram. And his own girlfriend, Lili Reinhart, also chimed in, writing, “I love this so much. Congratulations, you two.”
