Demi Lovato was seen out for a stroll Sunday morning, and this is the first time she has been spotted out in public since she was hospitalized due to a dangerous substance abuse relapse in July. The 26-year-old singer is recovering in a treatment facility. Now, she is looking quite happy in her most recent photo, where she’s enjoying a cup of coffee while striking up a coversation with a woman walking her dog.
Demi’s mother, Dianna De La Garza, had spoken out about her daughter’s overdose just last week – revealing that she wasn’t sure if Demi was going to survive the life-threatening incident.

“I got a phone call from Demi’s assistant at the time, Kelsey. I answered the phone and Kelsey was rambling like she had obviously been through something terrible, and she said, ‘I need to tell you what’s going on … you’re going to see a report come out.’ I stopped her and said, ‘Kelsey, just tell me what’s going on.’ The next words that came out of her mouth were words… that are so difficult to hear as a parent,” the 56-year-old former singer and author shared. “She said Demi overdosed. So I was in shock, I didn’t know what to say. It was something I never, ever expected to hear as a parent about any of my kids. I said, ‘Is she OK?’ And she stopped for a second and she said, ‘She’s conscious, but she’s not talking.’ I knew at that point that we were in trouble.”
While many stars reached out to wish Demi well on social media – her childhood best friend, Selena Gomez, shared in an interview that she reached out personally.

“All I’m saying is, I reached out personally. I didn’t do a public thing. I didn’t want to. I…I love her. I’ve known her since I was seven. So…it’s…that’s what I’ll say,” the 26-year-old Wizards of Wavely Place alum said.
