Now this is a friendship pairing we love. Dove Cameron just gushed about her friend and Hairspray Live! costar Ariana Grande, and the things she said about her were seriously the sweetest. And as it turns out, she says the “Sweetener” singer isn’t what you’d think!
“I love Ari. She’s such a singular person and not at all what you would think, at least in my experience. She and I got to be good girlfriends and that’s always a different perspective than somebody’s public image. She’s really, really funny—so smart and so intelligent—and such a deserving person of what she has,” the 23-year old gushed.
Ugh, oh how we’d love for these two to work together again. And we’re not the only ones keeping our fingers crossed for another Dove and Ari project. The ladies’ Hairspray Live! costar Kristin Chenoweth (who also plays Dove’s on-screen mother in Descendants) really want to see the girls star alongside one another the new Wicked movie.
“I have done two movies with her and I’ve played her mother twice, so I would see that as passing the crown so to speak,” the 50-year-old actress said on The Talk.
“I think Ariana Grande would make the perfect Elphaba,” she added. “Both of them have got to be great actors and great singers, and [be] funny and sad, and both good and evil, and I just think they have it.”
Dove also recently gushed about the 25-year-old “God Is a Woman” songstress in a new interview with ASOS Magazine.
“I lean on her a lot,” the Liv and Maddie leading lady spilled. “She FaceTimed me four days ago because I needed advice. I relate to her. We’ve both had great trauma and because she’s had so many of the same situation as me, it’s beautiful to ask her questions.”
OK, we officially stan this friendship!
