If you're wondering if Dove Cameron reads her comments, she does. The Disney Channel darling, who is gearing up to release new music, proved that she is absolutely not afraid to clap back when she sees negativity on social media.
It all started when someone made a hugely offensive, hateful comment on Dove's Instagram photo from the Golden Globes. Dove posted a series of photos from the award show, expressing in one of the captions how much it meant to her to be a part of such a powerful night – as she joined other celebs in wearing black to support the Times Up movement in its fight against sexual assault and gender inequality.
She wrote, "such a deep honor to have my first year at the @goldenglobes be one where i get to wear black and stand with some of hollywood’s strongest women in support of the #timesup movement. the energy i felt was unparalleled, incomparable, and so deeply touching. an electric shock to the heart. a day i’ll never forget. i am truly humbled."
Unfortunately, in Dove's attempt to spread light and positivity, a particularly nasty comment rolled in. While Dove doesn't typically dwell on mean comments, this one was so incredibly derogatory that she just had to respond to the person spreading such a hurtful message.
Fans were so proud of Dove's inspiring words and quickly began commending her for standing up against this disgusting act of hatred.
One fan wrote, "proud of you girl. you POUNCED like a lioness creeping around the hate and then BOOM YAAASS" – to which Dove replied, "honestly so ugly."
"I wish you peace, clarity, and a firm slap in the face from life ~ Dove Cameron @DoveCameron qoute of the day for me," another fan tweeted. While Dove appreciated fans coming to support, she quickly put an end to the discussion to avoid sparking any cyberbullying.
Dove wrote, "final thoughts on last nights instagram situation. let’s give the guy some room to breathe, as i think he’s heard what needed to be said, & i don’t want this to turn into a situation that is more bullying than it is educating. let’s leave it on love & light & wish him clarity!"

We're so proud of Dove for using her voice to shut down this person – and in such an articulate and classy way, might we add.
