He’s back and better than ever! Dylan O’Brien is starring in the brand new movie Love and Monsters — available to stream through premium video on-demand starting October 16 — after staying under the radar for a few years.

Fans of the former Teen Wolf alum, 29, got a pretty major surprise on Tuesday, September 15, when the trailer for the apocalyptic love story hit the web. Love and Monsters will follow Dylan’s character Joel as he sets out on a dangerous journey to reunite with his high school girlfriend.

“Seven years after the Monsterpocalypse, Joel Dawson, along with the rest of humanity, has been living underground ever since giant creatures took control of the land. After reconnecting over radio with his high school girlfriend Aimee, who is now 80 miles away at a coastal colony, Joel begins to fall for her again. As Joel realizes that there’s nothing left for him underground, he decides against all logic to venture out to Aimee, despite all the dangerous monsters that stand in his way,” the trailer’s description reads.

Aside from the American Assassin star, the flick also stars Jessica Henwick, former Stuck in the Middle star Ariana Greenblatt and more.

Love and Monsters‘ release comes two years after Dylan wrapped up his starring role in The Maze Runner trilogy. It was also announced in July that the actor would star in a brand new Vietnam War movie based on the book by Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue called, The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War.

Directed by Peter Farrelly, the film will also star Oscar-nominated actor Viggo Mortensen. It will follow the true story of Chickie, who left his hometown of New York in the year 1967 and planned to travel to Vietnam in search of some friends who were serving in the war, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dylan has also nabbed roles in the upcoming movies Infinite and The Education of Fredrick Fitzell.
