When Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding were spotted holding hands and cuddling up at MTV's Video Music Awards, everyone instantly thought there was some romance between the two, but Ellie was quick to deny it, jumping on Twitter and making sure everyone knew holding hands with friends doesn't mean you're an item.
Well, making a scene about it might be a little embarrassing now that Ed admitted they were actually dating at the time of the show! When Ed was asked about their romance in an interview with Click 98.9, he said, "Normal people don't hold hands if they're just friends. It was going on. And now it's not."
Well, we definitely know they were together, but what happened in the weeks since the VMAs to tear their relationship apart if they're no longer an item? And, what does this mean for One Direction's Niall Horan who has an insane crush on Ellie and was also spotted flirting with her at the VMAs?
