Eva Gutowski has bravely revealed to her fans that she is a victim of sexual assault. The social media star opened up in a YouTube video about the experience she dealt with when she was 16-years-old, which she discussed in full detail in her new book titled My Life As Eva.

The web star tweeted out to fans that she was about to release a video and that she hoped it could help someone going through a similar situation. She wrote, "A very important video to me is going up on my channel in a few minutes 🙂 I really hope it helps someone."

Watch the video below:

"It took a lot of courage and a lot of bravery to post this video. I've been battling this since I was 16. But to get to share something so powerful and spread a [message] that this IS going on and IS real is important."

In the video, there is a moment of realization in which she chooses to take this terrible situation into something positive by choosing to help other people, which she compares to making sweet banana bread out of rotten bananas.

"God gave me this burden because he knew I'd one day have a voice big enough to spread awareness. He knew I could get through it. It's scary sharing something people don't know how to handle, but I hope you spread the message," she wrote to her fans.

"Seeing something go on in the world and choosing to NOT talk about it makes the problem BIGGER. So go out there and spread how you feel ❤️ I hope you took something good from this video 🙂 I love you guys," she said to her fans.

While not every situation is the same and not everyone is ready to speak about traumatic experiences right off the bat, it is important that she is encouraging fans to speak out on these issues and it looks like fans are already opening up.

She once again confirmed in her series of tweets that this was a true story that happened to her and that more details will be in the book: "And again, yes, this is a 100% true story that happened to me. Every detail in the video is true, and I go more in depth in my book 🙂

We are so proud of the star for opening up about something so personal and are glad to see that her life has turned out for the better and that she didn't let this incident define who she is.
