Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole are stoking relationship rumors all over the place, but some One Direction fans are convinced that their romance is a ruse. While they're the only ones who can confirm or deny their romance, that hasn't stopped people from talking.

However, they're not the only couple to face criticism for allegedly "faking" their relationship. (And, hey! Just because you don't expect love to blossom between two people doesn't mean it won't.)

It seems like it just came out of the blue, and so some Directioners are convinced it's a fake relationship.

Although Selena still insists that she "definitely had a thing" with the DJ, Diplo called their relationship "fake" and many fans assumed it was a publicity stunt for their song, "I Want You to Know."

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid

After Gigi dumped Joe Jonas, she promptly started dating the former One Direction member, leaving many bystanders to accuse her of jumping into the relationship as a publicity stunt. After a fan tweeted at her, "You want the public to consume and believe your fake [relationship] — but don't want to be judged for it? Lol doesn't work that way," she responded.

The model allegedly tweeted and deleted, "Who are you to say what is fake? Your comment proves my point exactly. If you don't know you don't know."

However, a month later, Zayn released his "Pillowtalk" music video featuring Gigi, leading to even more speculation that they just got together for the promo.
