Disney Channel is back at it again with another remake of a beloved classic. It was just announced that a new Freaky Friday movie is in the works, this time as a musical.

Actresses Heidi Blickenstaff and Cozi Zuehlsdorff will be playing the mother-daughter duo this time around in the comedy. Heidi will be reprising her role of Katherine from the Freaky Friday stage show and Cozi will play Ellie, and the story will still be about an overworked mother and her daughter who end up magically swapping bodies, except this time told in a musical fashion of course. Both ladies took to Twitter to share how excited they are to be involved in this project. It is pretty MAJOR if we say so ourselves!

Fun fact: David Lawrence, the man who composed the musical score for High School Musical and Descendants will be working his magic again for the music in this DCOM, so you know it's going to be your next obsession.

"A classic story like Freaky Friday has a magical capacity to engage multiple
generations – whether it's in the form of a book, a theatrical film, a stage show – or all of the above!" said Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide in a press release. "Working with our partners at Disney Live Theatrical, we're thrilled to bring this classic story to life in a whole new form – a music-driven movie for television – that will be enjoyed by tens of millions of kids and families around the world."

Freaky Friday has been a beloved story for years, with Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis and Chad Michael Murray starring in the 2003 film, but it was actually first brought on-screen back in 1976 in the popular Disney film starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster. Plus in 1995, Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffman played the lead roles in a Disney Family Movie for ABC, so there have been plenty of versions over the years. This new DCOM will also star Jason Maybaum from Raven's Home as Ellie's little brother Fletcher, Kahyun Kim from Austin & Ally will play Katherine's high-strung business associate named Torrey, Alex Désert from Let It Shine will play Katherine's fiancé Mike and newcomer Ricky He will play Ellie's friend Adam.

Production on the DCOM is set to begin in the fall with the movie set to make its debut in 2018 on Disney Channel, so plenty of time to get ready for this new installment.
