It’s a sad day for fans of Harry Potter.
Actor Robert Hardy, who was best known for playing Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic in the films has passed away at the age of 91.
In a statement to the BBC, his family confirmed of his passing by releasing a statement that read, “Gruff, elegant, twinkly, and always dignified, he is celebrated by all who knew him and loved him, and everyone who enjoyed his work."
They also noted his contribution to both the big and small screen by adding that he had, “a giant career in theatre, television and film spanning more than 70 years.”
Fans of the beloved series are of course heartbroken over this news, including creator of the series J.K. Rowling. She released a statement on Twitter that read, “So very sad to hear about Robert Hardy. He was such a talented actor and everybody who worked with him on Potter loved him.”

Other stars of the films have yet to publicly pay their respects, but surely they will be remembering all the good times had on set with their own tributes.
Fans have also been remembering the actor on social media. Many sharing posts and gifs that pay tribute to his character, and many are also asking fans of the books and films to raise their wands up in his memory.
