No matter what the One Direction guys say about their hiatus, it doesn’t make things easier for fans who are holding onto hope that a reunion will be happening in the next couple of years. The break wasn’t an easy decision for the guys, but as Harry Styles explained during a private chat he had at the Grammy Museum with producer Jeff Bhasker and director Cameron Crowe who interviewed him for Rolling Stone – in which his cover made hearts across the world swoon, it was about trying out new things for himself.

Hazza explained that it all came down to trying to find a new way to express himself creatively by admitting, “it was just a group of us writing stuff to have fun and writing some songs and seeing what came out with the thought that I would actually play them myself. I think that’s a large part of the record is that it started that way. It didn’t start from, what do they want? I think if you’re lucky, I didn’t go into making the album or leave the band coming out of it feeling suppressed or feeling like I never got to write what I wanted to write. I loved being in the band so much and got to learn so much, and with this, I felt like I could just have a good time working out what it would sound like if I made an album.”

Obviously, the “Sign of the Times” singer’s album was nothing short of amazing, so that’s exactly what it sounds like. He also dished on his favorite song on the record, and no it’s not “Sweet Creature” or “Carolina.” Turns out it’s actually the final song on the album and he explained why by revealing, “my favorite song on the album, the last song, ‘From the Dining Room,’ is the most personal to me and I think my favorite one.”

Though the “Kiwi” singer is not a firm believer in everything having to be over the top emo. He continued to say, “I think it’s just as important to have songs that are fun and make you feel great, and I think that’s just as important as everything being moody and deep and meaningful.” He’s totally right! As much as we love seeing the soft and sensitive side to Harry, it’s even better to see him smiling and having a total blast.
