Dancing With the Stars Juniors is finally here! The dance competition kicked off Sunday night, and the star-studded cast brought their A-games. The spin-off show runs a bit differently than the original Dancing With the Stars – as far as voting and eliminations go. So how does it get decided which couples make it to the next week? We’re breaking down the deets for ya.

How do you vote for Dancing With the Stars Juniors?

While the OG Dancing With the Stars involves fan voting, this spin-off series does not. Eliminations are based solely on the judges’ scores. So while you might have a favorite team that you’d love to see make it to the next week, unfortunately, there’s no way to cast a vote.

Is Dancing With the Stars Juniors live?

Nope. While the original series is aired in real-time, Dancing With the Stars Juniors is not aired live. The series was actually pre-taped over the summer, so what you’re seeing on TV already happened. Since there has already been an outcome, fans are not able to cast in a vote each week.

How does scoring work?

After each performance, the judges (Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, DWTS pro Val Chmerkovskiy, and La La Land choreographer Mandy Moore) put in their scores. In addition to the judges, the studio audience also voted during each episode. Those scores are combined, and that is how it was decided who went home each week.

Be sure to tune in to the new series every Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC!
